Job Description

FULL PROFESSOR

  • A PhD in Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of consistent, extensive, and excellent performance in teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision (Master's and Doctoral)
  • Achievement of international recognition through research outputs within the last ten (10) years, emphasizing recent research outputs.
  • Significant contribution to community engagement.

 ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

  • A PhD in Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of consistent, extensive, and excellent performance in teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision.
  • Achievement of national and/or international recognition through research outputs within the last seven (7) years.
  • Significant contribution to community engagement.

 SENIOR LECTURER

  • A PhD in Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of teaching.
  • A record of publications in refereed academic journals, edited books, and/or book chapters.
  • Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision.
  • Contribution to community engagement.

LECTURER

  • Master’s Degree in Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics or a PhD in Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching and/or industry experience

 Additional Recommendations

  • The applicant should have a broad knowledge of Applied statistics and Data Science modules and a good research profile.
  • A broad understanding of current research developments and teaching trends within the discipline
  • Knowledge and experience of various statistical software packages such as SPSS, SAS, R
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications and a strong work ethic
  • Experience in e-Learning

 Summary of Duties

  • Management of all learning, teaching, assessment, and research matters.
  • Assist in curriculum development
  • Conduct research and publish in accredited journals
  • Perform other duties as determined by the Head of Department
