Minimum Qualifications:

Degree related to Visual Communication Design or Graphic Design (NQF 7)

Ideal: 

NQF Level 8

Experience:

• 10 Years Graphic Design Experience
• Five Years in management role in a graphic design environment
• 3 Years in Brand Management

Key Performance Areas

• Contributes to the research, design and development of Design Studio Unit policies, procedures, plans and systems on an ongoing basis in line with ENVISION2030 and the relevant legislation, national standards and international best practice, e.g. drafting of policy/procedures document on functions/operations of the Design Studio

• Develops plans and strategies to implement Design Studio policies, procedures and systems as directed by the Snr Director: Corporate Communication and Marketing

• Manages the relationship with, and regularly assesses needs of core customers to improve     quality and effectiveness of service, specifically with regard to the following:
- Quality of designs generated
- Corporate identity of the Institution.

• Sets objectives and clarifies roles for team and individuals in line with objectives of Design Studio Unit

• Manages performance of team members against agreed targets

• Identifies skills development requirements for team members and ensures appropriate training

• Assesses and reports on capability and utilization of team members on an ongoing basis

• Ensures personal and professional self-development by, attending courses, workshops and seminars

• Captures and collates data as required by Senior Director e.g. information for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting; feedback on specific projects

• Submits monthly work and statistics reports to Senior Director in prescribed format, e.g.: number of briefs completed; design costs – budget actual versus plan

• Represents Corporate Communication and Marketing at appropriate forums within and outside the institution, as directed by the Senior Director: Corporate Communication and Marketing
