Department of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying 
                                             RE-ADVERTISEMENT

Minimum Requirements:

 Professor:

  • PhD or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in the Built Environment, with an undergraduate qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, architecture, or civil engineering.
  • At least 10 years of teaching/professional experience.
  • Evidence of a scholarly track record in the form of international peer-reviewed publications.
  • Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision at Master's and Doctorate levels.
  • Evidence of sustained external funding.

 Associate Professor:

  • PhD or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in the Built Environment, with an undergraduate qualification in construction management or quantity surveying or architecture, or civil engineering.
  • At least 7 years of teaching/professional experience.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision.
  • Evidence of external funding.

 Senior Lecturer:

  • PhD or equivalent NQF level 10 qualification in the Built Environment, with an undergraduate qualification in construction management or quantity surveying or architecture, or civil engineering.
  • At least 5 years of teaching/professional experience.
  • Evidence of research and postgraduate supervision.

 Additional Recommendations:

  • Good communication and lecturing skills.
  • A strong passion for teaching and research.
  • Professional registration with SACQSP, or SACPCMP or SACAP or ECSA.
  • Good research track record or relevant research experience, and an ability and desire to advance research development in the department.

 Summary of Duties:

  • Teaching, assessing, and supervision at all levels.
  • Responsible for at least two modules per semester in accordance with fair workload distribution.
  • Development of learning materials for different courses.
  • Be actively involved in research and/or post-graduate supervision in the department at all levels.
  • Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated.
  • To serve as chair of a specialty area on a rotational basis.
  • To contribute /lead curriculum design.
  • To assist the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.
